3 TIPS FOR TRAINING AN INVASIVE DOG
All dogs love to care for; it is called affection on the part of the master. But unfortunately, too much attachment can also teach the dog to focus attention on this one. So it’s essential to know the middle ground.
So what are the signs when a dog wants to attract the attention of the master?
Very often, the dog barks untimely when you are on the phone … scratches the door when you are in another room, bites the leash ride, steals your clothes … short, the dog becomes invasive in your life. The only remedy is to see or redo his education.
Tip 1: reward the dog’s behavior
small example often seen in family: when the house or cell phone rings, most dogs immediately bark, and at times the masters order the dogs to be silent verbally and physically.
Sadly, the dog interprets his master’s order or movement as an affection that encourages him to start over and over again. The dog has understood that by barking, he manages to make his master react, but when he remains wise and silent, there is no reward on your part.
You understand the basic principle? You have to reverse the situation to correct your dog’s behavior. Is called the Premack principle.
Tip 2: Learn the basic instructions
Try to teach your dog the basic commands (sit, lie, not move …) while remaining logical and give him what he wants (toy, game, candy, caress …) once your order is respected.
Take an example; you say “lying down,” your dog will get his reward only after the action accomplished. Do not do this exercise with him alone at home, in the region, in the woods, in general. Is how your dog learns in real situations to control his emotions.
Tip 3: You choose!
Some dogs that want to attract attention need to understand things with a physical stimulant. In this case, the day, take care of your dog, play with him at the ball … but also make sure that he understands with a sign from you that you are no longer at his disposal.
It is you who choose when you are no longer willing to take care of him. For example, you can ignore it by turning your back on it or avoid talking to it, looking at it … You must be a leader for your dog; it is you who decides when the contract ends.
Most dogs know their masters well, they know some don’t keep up, that’s why you have to be stubborn even if your dog tries to threaten you with his look. Ignore him, and this is how he will understand the rules of living in the home environment.
